The finest fishing on the doorstep
The Lodge sits right on the idyllic shores of Lough Corrib, one of the most famous fisheries in all of Ireland, and keen anglers have been welcomed as guests since 1865. The lake is renowned for its wily brown trout, pike and salmon. Some of the best fishing in Ireland can be found on Lough Corrib which covers 44,000 acres and is the largest of three lakes in the locality.
What we offer
Local Ghillie, Frank Costello, is internationally recognized as one of the most knowledgeable experts on fishing Lough Corrib, having lived beside the lake all his life. He is an Orvis endorsed guide and will happily take individuals or groups of up to 15 people for fly fishing lessons, half-day or full-day tours which includes a delicious picnic lunch on one of the islands and the chance to cook your catch out in the open!
Suitable for total beginners and competent fishermen alike, we suggest you dress in warm, waterproof clothing, boots and bring sunglasses. All fishing gear is supplied and traditional hand-crafted 19ft clinker wooden boats are used. Offering a fantastic perspective of the Ashford Estate from the water, fishing at The Lodge is an unbeatable experience. For competent fisherman, we also offer fishing on nearby Lough Mask and Lough Carra, or further afield in Connemara. The Cong River at the hotel is a great option for very experienced and able-bodied salmon fishermen.
