Since graduating from DIT’s School of Hospitality Management and Tourism over 23 years ago, I have embraced the industry whole heartedly. Previously Deputy General Manager at Dromoland Castle, I have now been General Manager of Ashford Castle since May 2002. I am responsible for the day to day running of our iconic 82 bedroom castle. Continually ensuring we meet international standards of excellence I have a constant guest focus and am always seeking to find new and innovative ways to excel. I’m highly motivated and thrive on the continual challenges the business offers. I am proud to have been awarded Hospitality Manager of the Year 2013 sponsored by The Irish Times. Together with my dedicated and passionate team we provide genuine and generous Irish hospitality on a grand scale.
- Hotel Manager
I first joined Red Carnation Hotels on their Management Programme in 2010 as a Reception Manager and Assistant Food and Beverage Manager role in our sister property The Rubens at The Palace, London. After a brief period away from the company as Rooms Division Manager in Dublin, I was delighted to take the role as Hotel Manager here at The Lodge at Ashford Castle. We have an eclectic, vibrant team that are the epitome of Irish hospitality and I’m proud to work beside each and every member of the team. We work together to do everything in our power to ensure the guests’ stay is comfortable and relaxing in our beautiful setting. Below you will find some of my colleagues who make this possible.
- Assistant Hotel Manger
I joined the Red Carnation Hotel Collection in 2014 and I am overwhelmed with the genuine passion for going above and beyond for guests and colleagues alike – welcoming all as if they are family. I studied at Shannon College of Hotel Management and I have worked in hotels in Luxembourg, London and Dublin in various positions. I am very happy to now call The Lodge at Ashford my home and I look forward to the journey ahead and offering our guests an exceptional experience they will never forget.
- Guest Services
I have worked in the hospitality sector for nearly 8 years now. I joined the team at The Lodge in February 2012, with the then management company ‘Edward Hotels’ who I had been working for in their Galway hotel, The Meyrick, for four and a half years. I've had a brilliant few years so far and am proud of our service, staff, amazing food and that The Lodge is one of Ireland's leading wedding venues. As someone who is getting married here myself, I can safely say that there are few venues in the country that offers such a flawless level of service, friendly and happy staff and fantastic quality and standard of food each and every week.
My main concern and primary interest is each of our guests and ensuring their overall experience is as memorable as possible. My approach to my role in Guest Services is mirrored by Red Carnation Hotel’s ethos, with shared core values to myself when it comes to customer service.
- Accommodation Manager
My role, along with my experienced and dedicated team, is to ensure that guests receive the very best standard of service and to ensure their stay with us is a memorable one, making them want to return, time and time again.
Having completed Hospitality Studies and Supervisory Courses in college, I spent seven years at Ashford Castle, before moving the short distance to The Lodge in 2007. I love working with a passionate and dedicated team, providing a host of thoughtful touches for each guest. I look forward to welcoming you soon!
- Wedding Coordinator
I recently joined The Lodge at Ashford Castle and I am delighted to be part of this fantastic team - as well as the Red Carnation Hotel Group. I have a wealth of event planning experience having previously worked in the charity sector as Fundraising Events Manager. I am excited to work with our future Bride’s and Groom’s to help them create the most special day of their lives!
Originally from the locality, I have worked in the beauty industry for well over 20 years. My area of expertise and focus is on make-up, beauty and skin care. I have held nearly every position possible in the industry, including being a proprietor of my own clinic in Galway for four years. Throughout my career I have trained with the International Dermal institute in London, Elizabeth Arden, MAC, Jane Iredale and Guerlain. I look forward to taking care of you!
- Director of Sales & Marketing
It has been an absolute privilege to be Director of Sales & Marketing at the legendary Ashford Castle, for over 25 years. I am proud to represent the wonderful Ashford family and since joining RCH in June 2013, two families have become one. My role is to connect our guests, clients and agents with the operational team, in a smooth and efficient manner to ensure that each guest has a truly memorable experience. Our team are warm, compassionate, caring, genuine and enthusiastic about delivering and living the Red Carnation ethos “No request too large, no detail too small”.
- Executive Head Chef
I joined The Lodge as Head Chef in 2012 and serve a combination of simple, authentic, seasonal and innovative dishes daily. I have had a passion for cooking for as long as I can remember and started working in a kitchen on my 15th birthday, washing pots in the local pub. In 1997, I was accepted into the professional cookery course in the GMIT and spent two years mastering the basics. I have worked in a string of Irish hotels and restaurants, including O’Grady’s Seafood Restaurant, Adare Manor Hotel, Byrne’s Restaurant, The Atlantic Coast, The Mill Times Hotel and Cashel House.
I focus on the quality of the country’s produce in my cooking, as I believe that the quality of the seafood, wild foods, livestock and vegetables in the west of Ireland is unrivalled anywhere in the world. I continue to champion West of Ireland artisan producers to the best of my ability and am co-founder of Slow Food Mayo and a member of Euro-Toques.
- Senior Sales Manager
I joined the Red Carnation Hotel Collection in June 2014. Having grown up in the area, I am very honoured and proud to be representing Ashford Castle and The Lodge at Ashford Castle and to be part of the Red Carnation family. I studied Hotel Management at GMIT in Galway and I have twelve years extensive experience within the hotel industry, having previously held roles as Senior Sales Manager with Powerscourt Hotel formerly Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt and prior to that as Sales & Marketing Manager at The G Hotel Galway. I am very passionate about building relationships with my clients, to ensuring they have a memorable experience with us and to living the ethos of our company “No request too large, no detail too small”.
- Reception Manager
I joined Red Carnation Hotels in June 2014 as Reception Manager of The Lodge at Ashford Castle where I am responsible for the smooth operation of the entire Front of House team. I was born in Hungary and studied European Union Regional Development and Management in Hospitality and Tourism.
In 2006 I relocated to Ireland where I had the opportunity to work for a fantastic 5 star boutique property in Dublin and after years of experience in Front of House oriented hotel management I was lucky enough to join The Lodge and feel privileged to work in one of Ireland’s most beautiful properties here in Co. Mayo.
- Food and Beverage Manager
I joined the team at The Lodge in July 2014 with over 12 years within the hospitality sector, starting my career in Knockranny House Hotel where I was part of their management programme in conjunction with GMIT. Having worked for other establishments in Ireland and abroad I am very proud to be part of the Red Carnation family. I have worked in all departments of the hotel sector but food and beverage is my passion. My Team and I here at The Lodge are passionate about providing excellent service as well as creating an experience for our guests. As one of the RCH Motto’s says “No request too large, no detail too small” we truly believe in this and strive to make our guests stay the best they have ever had.
- Wedding and Marketing Coordinator
I joined the Ashford team in 2012 where I began my career in hospitality with the reception team. Following my goal to one day work in the wedding department. I returned to college and completed a degree in Event Management and Public Relations. I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work as a Wedding and Marketing Coordinator in such a wonderful property. The Red Carnation Hotel Group are such a fantastic company to work for with amply opportunity’s for progression available to all staff members.
