This is an overdue email to say a very special thank you for all your fantastic help, kindness, advice, care, attention and everything you did in the run up to our wedding day as well as on the day itself. You were so helpful.
Mairead we had such an amazing day! I know it’s a bit of a cliché but we really did have the best day of our lives!!
Everyone, as expected, had only great things to say about the staff, food, rooms and the location. What a location!
A big thank you too to Saskia who was so helpful. Hope her and bump are well. And Gary….such a lovely guy. He was so helpful and had such a lovely manner. Orla i’m sure would have loved to run off with him to Canada if it wasn’t for the husband !!
David and I have been dying to pop up to Cong for a walk or lunch since we’ve got back but things have been mental here with the build on the house starting and training season in full flight!
The parents are still on a high!! Mairead again, a big heartfelt thanks for everything.
Hope all's well with you and your enjoying the countdown to your own sisters wedding.

Our Wedding Day review
When choosing your wedding venue you want your family and friends to be as excited about where you share your special day, when we announced it was The Lodge at Ashford, they were ecstatic. Your wedding day is the day you're marrying your best friend and we wanted to have an intimate civil ceremony and fabulous party to celebrate our love and commitment. As Stevie Wonder would say, The Lodge at Ashford signed, sealed, delivered...it was ours!!!
With lots of sparkle, candles, elegance and fun, our wedding day was perfect due to the care, effort and attention to detail provided by Mairead, Jonathan, Garey, Saskia and all the team at The Lodge. Mairead became like an adopted member of the newly formed Scott family, always available to listen, explore and improve any ideas we had. With the amazing kindness and friendliness exhibited by all the staff on the day, our guests were enchanted by the wonder of the Lodge and celebrations went on into the wee hours, happily accommodated by the bar staff :)
There were so many magical moments provided, from the beautiful backdrop of Lisloghrey to the amazing service and fabulous setting we all initially fall in love with when choosing the Lodge. But for us the wellies were a special memory and talking point the following day for all the ladies at our wedding!! When the flip flops were all gone and the feet were sore, an amazing array of wellington boots advanced to the dance floor and provided the most hilarious photo opportunities of the night!! Although I expect that's not what they're meant for :)
The Lodge at Ashford NEVER lived up to our expectations....it exceeded any ideas of what we could imagine would happen on the day and we've promised ourselves that we will be celebrating our anniversary there as a yearly reminder to the most special day of our lives........so far.
Thanks for everything,
Geraldine and Andrew Scott
Our sincerest apologies for the delay in writing to you regarding our wedding in March. It may sound strange but it took us nearly two months to recover from the entire experience. It was an exciting yet emotional time and it was truly amazing. To say the staff of the Lodge were fantastic, professional and kind is an understatement. The help we received across the board was unsurpassed and it will never be forgotten. For the friendly attitudes of so many to help getting trouser tailored last minute ( Anna!), every minute of the weekend and the day itself was magical to say the least. We still tell people of how great the location, the organizing (Mairead) and the people were and are ( Gary and Robert). Though our fellow guests did not need any convincing and will definitely be returning to relive the whole experience.
You are all a credit to the hotel, to one another and to what the word hospitality truly means. We want you all to know that the weekend will forever be etched in our minds as so very special and we will make The Lodge a place to visit in time to come for many years, hopefully New Years 2014 if we get the chance!
This note cannot convey the hard work you all put in but please know it never went unnoticed.
Thank you all for making our wedding so special.
Andrew & Jennifer Rhatigan.
I’ve been wanting to wait until I have enough time to sit down and write this properly but considering our wedding was in July I thought I’d better just make time!
I just wanted to say a big big thank you, to you, Aoife and all the staff at Lisloughrey Lodge from Daniel and I.
We couldn’t have wished for a better day, a better venue and your wonderful staff were amazing and really helped to make our wedding the best day of our lives.
I had booked the venue from Australia without actually setting foot in the door and was not disappointed when I eventually got the opportunity to see the place (2 weeks before the wedding!).
My mother in law (who is Australian) called me on the Friday night when she got to the Lodge, she was in tears as she just thought the place was stunning and that I couldn’t have picked a better place!
A big thank you to Saskia who had to dealt with my accommodation needs, I’m sure all my updates and spreadsheets drove her nuts but she never let on, it all went to plan and everyone loved their rooms.
Gary you’re a legend, the service was second to none you made my sisters and I feel very special when we came for the menu tasting and the all-important pre-dinner wine tasting too :-)
Over the entire weekend drinks were flowing as we had a mixture of both Aussies and Irish and service was always efficient and with a smile so thanks to all of you.
Food & Wait Staff:
AMAZING when we had the menu tasting I was blown away and did wonder if it could be replicated on mass for the actual wedding, I need not have feared it was delicious, the wait staff for the wedding and for the who weekend were great so a big thank you to them (Especially Shane who went over and above the morning after the wedding having to go through the bins to try and find my retainer, so sorry about that, braces are back on now and no major harm done by not having it for my honeymoon!).
I’ve attached a couple of pics and also a link to our wedding highlights video (less than 3 min long) which shows the beautiful view at the lodge. http://vimeo.com/49024667
Lisloughrey will always be special to us and we’ll be sure to make it a regular stop when we visit from Australia.
Thank you again, wishing you a very Merry Christmas and continued success at the Lodge.
Anna & Daniel [July 12]
Rachel & Aoife (and all the staff of Lisloughrey Lodge),
Sorry this email is so overdue but we have had a very busy 3 weeks since the wedding day. It was a big come down after such a fabulous weekend in Lisloughrey.
We wanted to thank each and every one of the staff in Lisloughrey for making our wedding such a magical weekend, and especially to you Rachel and Aoife. From the first time we enquired with you right through to the last moment your attention to every detail and thoughtfulness made us feel ours was the only wedding you had to arrange. We couldn’t be happier that we chose Lisloughrey as our venue. The location and setting is truly spectacular. Waking up on the morning of the wedding to the view of the sun rising over the lake is a memory we will never forget. We were so lucky to have weather that showed the location in all its glory. The hotel has such a private feel to it, tucked away in beautiful surroundings and a beautiful village Cong. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough. It is different to so many wedding venues in its size and style. The rooms, lobby, bars and function room are interesting and very cool. The function room is filled with light and the stunning views from outside. It is not the average wedding venue-we just loved it!
We would really recommend if possible for couples and their families/friends to stay in the hotel the night before their wedding. This really added to our experience. Thanks to Jorg and the restaurant staff for organising our meal on Friday night and being so accommodating. A fabulous meal and great night! The hair/beauty salon was a great facility to have for the morning of the wedding. It made the morning preparations so relaxed and enjoyable. Each one of the staff were so personable and friendly. They seemed to know all the guests by name and created a very relaxed atmosphere throughout the weekend. So many people mentioned Padraig, particularly, as being so helpful and pleasant, as were the reception desk staff and the other staff members in the Lodge.
The day of the wedding went perfectly. Rachel, Aoife and Gary were present throughout the day, making sure that every little detail was covered. Their attention to detail was really amazing and without imposing at any time. They have a lovely manner, relaxed yet very competent. They added so much to the day and their roles are so integral- we hadn’t realised how important this was until we were in the midst of it all. The young and enthusiastic staff create such a fun and relaxed atmosphere, yet ensuring very high standards. Our wedding meal was a highlight of the day. So many of our guests raved about it. The taste and presentation of the food really show the talent and passion that was put into it. Little touches and details in the food mean that it goes way beyond the standard of an average wedding meal.
Rachel, a special thanks to you for all you did in the lead up to the weekend. You always replied so promptly to our calls/emails and did whatever we needed. You were so lovely to deal with from start to finish and it was great to see so much of you on the day. Aoife, thank you also for all you did throughout the weekend also. We really appreciated your help and attention.
We had an absolutely PERFECT wedding in Lisloughrey. It was exactly as we wished it would be and we loved every minute of it. We have so many special memories from the day. We can’t wait to get down to Cong and particularly to Lisloughrey again soon. We would love to do it all over again! Lisloughrey is a gem in Mayo.
Keep up the great work everyone and thanks so much again,
Lisa and Patrick [Oct 12]
To all the wonderful staff at Lisloughrey Lodge.
Just a short note to thank you all most sincerely and from the bottom of our hearts for what was literally a life changing experience for Ruth and myself.
Your attention to detail and the manner in which you dealt with not only us but all of our guests was outstanding. You should be very proud of everything you have achieved as a team !
Lots of Love.
Darragh & Rugh [May 12]
From the minute we arrived on Friday night, I felt very much like I owned the hotel. The staff had all been informed who we were and were constantly at our beck and call. Because it is such a small intimate venue [50 bedrooms in total] I dont think there was anyone except for my wedding guests in the hotel for the entire weekend. Again, it felt like we owned the place! We had a beautiful dinner with my family and my husbands family on the Friday night. The staff had set up a large square table for 20 people in a special private room, and gave us a very good value three course meal. The food and wine, as usual, was beautiful.
The Grounds of the hotel looked beautiful. There were newly planted flowers in the flowerbed, and the view over Lake Corrib was unbelivable. After the church, we arrived back to Lisloughrey to find the red carpet had literally been rolled out and Aoife and Niall stood waiting to greet us, along with a butler and glasses of champagne.
When we walked into the Reception hall, I was blown away. The place looked fantastic. They've recently redecorated, put down new carpet and replaced the chandeliers. Two thirds of the room is covered in windows looking out over the lake, so the place felt so bright and airy and summery. Even after the speeches, the room was still bright. I had left the centre pieces in the hands of the hotel staff, and they had produced lovely, simple, tall white flower arrangements. They were perfect.
As I've said a couple of times, the food was fabulous. The Steak, in particular, had all the guests talking, but I loved it all.
The following day, half of the Wedding Guests stayed for a second night. The weather was good, so people wandered off for a stroll in the grounds of Ashford Castle, or around the beautiful village of Cong. I hadn't really thought about it before the wedding, but it was actually a huge added bonus that there was so much to see and do around the hotel, given we were staying for the whole weekend.
It was so hard to leave the next morning. Lisloughrey was everything that I hoped it would be and more, and I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone looking for that intimate personal touch that is so hard to find.
